Designed by Laurence Xu, the uniforms are inspired by the Cheongsam, a traditional Chinese dress that women usually wear for more formal occasions. However the dress was updated with Western-style draping for an international, modern look.
The uniforms feature traditional Chinese imagery, such as clouds, waves and the roc, a mythical bird of prey. The jackets and coats that female employees will wear over the dresses feature a structured mandarin collar and crisp tailoring that looks taken straight from Savile Row.
The entire design process for Chinese Airlines took over two years.
This is the fifth new iteration of the uniform since the airline launched in 1993.
